Langenargen, Germany --- Both Phil Robertson of New Zealand and Peter Gilmour of Australia were skippers of crews that made it all the way to the Semi Finals of Match Race Germany, the second leg of the 2011 World Match Racing Tour. However it was Italian skipper Francesco Bruni who was crowned the champion at Lake Constance after defeating the Australian in the final.

The ISAF World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) is the world’s leading professional sailing series featuring 9 World Championship events across the globe.

In 2011, the World Tour will offer a total US$1.75million in prize money with points awarded at each event culminating in the crowning of the “ISAF Match Racing World Champion”.

The prize pool will include a US$500,000 bonus fund for the top nine teams in the Championship.

Head-to-head racing takes place close to the shore for the general public to follow the races as virtual on-the-water stadiums.
