Eleven countries are sending teams to the five-star event which be held at the Ghantoot Polo Club in Abu Dhabi. Many of the world’s best riders have been attracted thanks largely to the lucrative prize money on offer which is set to total over 500,000 Euros. The current World Champion and 1992 Olympic gold medalist Jos Lansink (pictured) will be a part of the competition, as the sole representative for Belgium. Two time Olympic silver medalist Rolf-Goran Bengtsson will be proudly flying the flag for Sweden, as will Henrik von Eckermann, Alexander Zettermann and Jannike West. The British team will boast Olympians Robert Smith and 26 year old Ben Maher who is currently ranked as England’s number one individual rider. Also in action will be Clarissa Crotta who is an important member of Switzerland’s reigning European Champion team. Other nations that will be taking part include Canada, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Denmark, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Italy and Ireland. Another interesting factor of the meeting is that world renowned course designer Olaf Petersen has been appointed to ensure that the strong field of quality riders is extensively and appropriately tested. The President of the UAE Show Jumping Cup runs for four days from February 3rd. |
The first week of February will bring us equestrian’s United Arab Emirates Nations Cup.
