Bolt Ruled Out for 2010

Coming off a rare loss at 100 meters, Olympic and world champion Usain Bolt is cutting his season short, saying he won't race again in 2010 because of tightness in his lower back.

The Jamaican's manager, Ricky Simms, wrote in an e-mail Tuesday that the world record-holder at 100 and 200 meters will have treatment to loosen his back and then rest, skipping IAAF Diamond League track and field meets in Zurich on Aug. 19, and in Brussels on Aug. 27.

Gay Beats Bolt in Stockholm

In the season’s single most anticipated face-off, Tyson Gay handed Usain Bolt his first 100m defeat in two years to highlight the DN Galan's Samsung Diamond League in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.

In their first meeting in nearly a year – and just their third 100m head-to-head ever - history’s two fastest men lined up side-by-side, two brick red lanes in Stockholm’s historic 1912 Olympic Stadium which were the focus on this night of much the sporting world.

Powell Withdraws from Stockholm

Asafa Powell was forced to withdraw from Friday’s DN Galan Samsung Diamond League meeting due to injury, organisers announced.

Powell, who was slated to face World record holder Usain Bolt and U.S. record holder Tyson Gay in the 100m on Friday, suffered a minor groin injury in the Paris Diamond League meeting last month and has since suffered additional setbacks, according to a statement issued by Doyle Management Group, the firm which represents Powell.

Kenya Captures Five Gold Medals as African Champs Conclude

Aussies Continue to Surge Towards Delhi

Australia’s top track and field athletes have continued their charge towards the Commonwealth Games in Round 9 of the IAAF Diamond League series in Paris, France.

World champions Steve Hooker and Dani Samuelslined up alongside Beijing Olympics finalist Jarrod Bannister on the Paris leg of the 14-meet tour, where world 100m and 200m record-holder Usain Bolt took out a much-anticipated showdown with former 100m world record-holder and fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell.
